How porn is becoming more and more mainstream

For the longest time, there was a line between everything that was considered ‘mainstream’ and the world of sex, erotica and porn. Or at least, until some time ago. Slowly but surely, that same line is getting more and more blurred. Porn is taking over.

But what made that shift possible? Time for a short analysis.

Social media
If platforms like YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat are for everybody, we really mean EVERYBODY. The porn industry is taking full advantage here. Both pornstars and porn companies learn how to tease their audience with non nude content. Stuff like ‘try on hauls’, twerking videos and a fuckload of booty/nipple teasing pictures are just a few examples.

But that’s not all. Because (female) ‘influencers’ know they get more likes with sexual poses and dito pictures, they contribute with blurring the lines between what’s sex and what’s not. So thank you, Abigail Ratchford, Anna Nystrom, Sommer Ray, Kiki Passo, Nicole Thorne, Neiva Mara, Bruna Lima and countless of other girls!

The changing landscape of porn
Okay, so there are 2 HUGE factors that made sure people are getting more aware of porn. One being the introduction of Greg Lansky, the others one consists of girls taking matters into their own hands, with the rise of OnlyFans and Snapchat premium.

Let’s start with this Lansky guy. He’s the man who brought us sites like Vixen, Tushy(Raw) and Blacked(Raw). Needless to say, he’s a god for doing that. But there’s more than just that. The way he shoots photos and movies didn’t make porn almost look like mainstream movies. The photography and events such as crowning a ‘Vixen Angel’ makes the adult industry infinitely more accessible.

And then, there’s also girls producing their own porn. By shooting short clips of amateur-ish porn (which is one of the most popular categories), more and more people are paying for their monthly subscription. This’ll make something like Snapchat Premium a social media for both porn and non-porn lovers. Something that’s very rare online.

Podcasts like Holly Randall Unfiltered
Spreading awareness about the life of a pornstar, sex working or porn employee is key to making porn look as normal as your everyday nine to five job. One of the best ways to do so, is by talking about it. A LOT! That’s where podcasts come into play. A prime example of a great porno podcast is ‘Holly Randall Unfiltered’. This is the place where erotic photographer Holly Randall sits down with pornstars, journalists, producers and directors of the adult industry. It gives a beautiful peak behind the curtains, shatters all preconceptions and shows girls like Madison Ivy, Kendra Spade and Casey Calvert from their most human AND naughtiest side. ‘Cause did you know girl were raised in a mormon family? Or that ‘robotic penises’ are an actual thing? Looks like you have some catching up to do!

Now, does this all mean that porn is suddenly the talk of the town? Of course not! But the times that porn is being treated as a third-rate job are far behind us. This makes sure new areas in porn can be explored, such as gooning and pornosexuals. Will that become normal in the future as well?
